Last Thursday we went to NAIA2 to pick up our CEO arriving from LAX. We encountered severe traffic jam along EDSA brought about by a dump truck that crashed and spilled its cargo of sand along the highway. We had to take an alternate route and the 1 hour travel doubled so we arrived 1 hour late than expected. When we got there, the monitor showing the baggage carousel was somewhat desolate of people claiming their luggage so I thought that we were definitely late but when we asked the guards, they informed us that flight PR 103 of PAL from LAX encountered problems with the passengers luggage and the passengers had to line up and claim their forms so that they can come back for their luggage. Quite expectedly, many people git irate especially a certain passenger who was off to a wedding with no luggage in tow. All the good people form PAL could offer was an explanation that there were technical difficulties and gave each passenger 1,000 pesos. Two days passed until the luggage arrived with still no proper explanation on what caused the delay. Many theories came about and one prominent belief was that there might have been trouble with the plane’s engine since many passengers recounted that the plane had a hard time taking off and to think that there were no luggage carried at that time.
Further snooping, a mole shared that the reason all the luggages were not brought along was this. Jose Pidal who was sighted by many seated at the 1st class section. It turns out that along with him where his brothers horses safely tucked in the undercarriage leaving no space available for all the passengers. Nifty right? That should explain why no media picked up the story of the flight with no luggage. Just think about it. If FG’s bro was on that flight and he too did not have his luggage he would definitely make noise against PAL. The family of our “elected” leaders wallowing in power they do not deserve.
* Other famous people on board at that flight were the Pratts family. Maybe they can attest that Jose Pidal was there!

Imbestigador had a 2-part special this past Saturdays about Philippine Transportation. It’s about Philippine transportation compared to other Asian nations such as Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. We really have a long way to go in terms of reaching a sense of order in our transportation from roads, to railroads and even aviation. The guy being interviewed (I think it was in Malaysia) gave a great insight when he said that the reason they have better road/railroad infrastructure is because the government there has a goal which is to be industrialized by 2020. And in order to prepare themselves for that, they rebuilt their roads to handle their progress. Kelan kaya tayo magkaron ng leaders who will have enough political will to make concrete changes and take charge of our country? It’s so sad that everytime you see how we fare against other countries, the urge to work abroad becomes more and more enticing. Since I was young I promised myself that no amount of salary will make me want to leave our country. Not even if my whole family relocates themselves to the US. Now if a lucrative offer comes my way to work abroad, I wouldn’t think twice in going for it. Is there still hope for us as a nation?

As rumors of SkyCables decision of dropping Sollar Channels [Basketball TV (BTV), Solar Sports, ETC, 2nd Avenue, Jack TV and Crime/Suspense] has been confirmed and the replacement channels [Balls, Maxxx and Velvet] won’t fill the void, Smart’s Mobile TV becomes even more enticing. They are currently offering the following channels: Cartoon Network, Entertainment Central, Jack TV, Pinoy Box Office, MTV, CNN, Basketball TV, PBA, Solar Sports, National Geographic Channel, The History Channel. You have to have a DVB-H capable handset to avail of this service and what’s good to know is that SMART is still waiting clearance from NTC before they can charge their subscribers for this value added service.
